Exercise 1: An informal letter

 

Write a letter to a friend.

 

Task: Write a letter to a new friend in another country. Describe your family, your school and your free time activities.

 

Ideas: Think about the answers to these questions.

Your family

  • Who is in your family?
  • How old are the people in your family?
  • Where do you live?

A typical day

  • When do you usually get up?
  • How do you get to school?
  • Where do you have lunch?
  • What do you usually do after school?

Free time

  • What do you usually do at the weekend?
  • What do other people in your family do at the weekend?
  • What do you like doing? What do you dislike doing?

 

Plan: Organize your ideas into paragraphs.

Write: Write your letter.

Remember!

Begin informal letters with Dear + person’s first name.

Finish informal letters with Best wishes.

Write / Sign your name at the bottom of the letter.

 

Check: Check your spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  1.  Write your task in another program (e.g. Word).
  2.  Save the file to your computer.
  3.  Upload your file.
  4.  If you want to add a note to your teacher, write it in the Comments box.
  5.  Select Submit to Dropbox to send your work to your teacher.
