Exercise 1: A narrative

 

Write a narrative about a day in your life.

 

Task: Write a narrative about one of these days.

  • last Saturday
  • an important day for your family
  • one of your best days at school

 

Ideas: Think about the answers to these questions and make notes.

  • What happened?
  • Where were you?
  • What did you do?
  • What did other people do?
  • How did you feel?
  • What happened in the end?

 

Plan: Organize your ideas into paragraphs.

Paragraph 1: Introduction

Paragraph 2: The start of the day

Paragraph 3: The rest of the day

Paragraph 4: Conclusion – why was it an important / good / bad day?

 

Write: Write your narrative. Remember to use narrative adverbs: at first, immediately, suddenly, soon, at last.

 

Check: Check your spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  1.  Write your task in another program (e.g. Word).
  2.  Save the file to your computer.
