Sophie Sayeed, 14, describes her amazing experience as a Tottenham Hotspur mascot

It is two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, 12th June, and this is a very exciting day! I'm with my parents and my brother in the family room at White Hart Lane, in North London – home of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. My whole family – my mum, my dad, my eight-year-old brother, Steve, and I are big fans of Tottenham. It's a special day for me because I am one of the mascots for Tottenham's match today. Tottenham Hotspur chooses eleven young mascots – one person for each member of the football team – for every important match.

Now it's half past two. I walk into the tunnel area with the other ten mascots. We meet the Tottenham players and talk to them. The players sign autographs and pose for photographs with us. Then we all return to the family room. We change into the Tottenham kit – special clothes for the match – and say goodbye to our families. My mum, dad and brother go to their seats in the stadium and wait for the match to begin, but I go back to the tunnel with the other mascots.

It is now three o'clock and the players are in the tunnel and ready to start the game. The bell rings and we all run out onto the pitch. Each mascot runs together with one member of the team. I am with Mousa Dembélé – my favourite player! I can hear shouting and singing from the crowds. There are more than 30,000 spectators for today's match at White Hart Lane and the noise is incredible! The players and the mascots stand together on the pitch for a photo session. The mascots shake the hands of the players and of the referee. Then, finally, we run around the pitch and wave at the crowds for one last time before we join our families to watch the match. What an amazing experience!
